Golf hats are one of the best add-ons in a golf shop: one size or adjustable, easy to gift, and something golfers replace often. The trick is carrying hats that look like retail merchandise your shopper would choose, not blank caps built for company logos.

This guide is for boutiques, golf shops, pro shops and resort retail buying hats to resell. For polos, skorts and the rest of the apparel side, see wholesale golf apparel for boutiques.

What to check before ordering golf hats

  • Retail look, not promo blanks. If the listing is built around adding a company logo, it is probably not what a boutique shopper wants.
  • Adjustability. Snapback, strap or elastic back decides how many heads it fits.
  • Colors that match your apparel. Hats sell best when they pick up colors from the polos and skorts on the rack.
  • Suggested retail. Compare it with what your golfer spends on a hat.
  • Reorders. A best-selling visor you can restock every season is worth more than a one-time print.

Merchandising and gifting

Put hats next to the register and near apparel, not on a back wall. Group them by color with matching polos, and show a visor with a skort and golf towel as a complete look. Hats are also the easiest golf gift, so build a small section around Father's Day, Mother's Day and holiday. For towels, gloves and other add-ons, see golf towels wholesale and golf accessories wholesale.

How many hats to start with

Hypothetical example: a shop spends $400 on headwear, with $150 on women's visors, $150 on caps and $100 held for a reorder, timed to land before the local season starts. The golf apparel inventory planning guide covers timing, and how to start a golf apparel boutique covers the full store plan.
