A strong home decor business name tells shoppers what the rooms in your shop feel like. Words tied to the house itself (hearth, mantel, porch, table) read warm and familiar. Material words (linen, oak, clay, brass) read crafted and a little more upscale. My shortlist: Hearth & Lintel, The Mantel Room and Linen Lane Home.
The names are grouped by decorating style so you can jump to the one that matches what you plan to stock. If you are still deciding what that is, read how to start a home decor business first. Your assortment should shape the name, not the other way around.
What makes a good home decor store name?
- It hints at the style. "Rusted Gate" and "Chrome Parlor" promise very different shops. Pick words your customer would use to describe her own living room.
- It leaves room to grow. Home decor shops often add candles, kitchen goods, gifts or furniture. "The Pillow Shop" boxes you in fast.
- It reads well on a hang tag and a box. A lot of decor leaves as a gift, so your name ends up on tissue, stickers and gift receipts.
- It works online. Most decor shoppers browse on Instagram or Pinterest before they visit. Short, spellable names are easier to find and tag.

Before you fall in love: none of these names has been checked for availability. Search your state business registry, the domain, the social handles and the USPTO trademark database, and follow your state and local registration rules before you order signs or packaging.
How to research domain and legal availability
Do this for your top three names before you pay for a logo or signage:
- Domain. Check the .com first. If it is taken, try adding "home" or "shop" to the end (for example, mantelroomhome.com). Avoid hyphens and odd spellings.
- Social handles. Search Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok and Facebook for the exact name. Decor sells visually, so you want matching handles.
- State business registry. Search your secretary of state's business name database to see whether another business already uses it in your state.
- Trademarks. Search the USPTO trademark database for the name, especially in home goods and retail classes. A similar name selling similar products can be a problem even if it is spelled differently.
- Google. Search the name with "home decor." If another shop comes up first, pick something else.
If anything looks close, talk to a trademark attorney before you commit. I cannot tell you whether a name is legally clear, and neither can a name list.
Naming mistakes to avoid
- Naming after a trend. A name built on this year's color or style ages with it.
- Naming after one product. You will add categories. Leave room.
- Copying a big brand's pattern. Names that echo a national home store invite confusion and legal trouble.
- Clever spelling. "Hoam" or "Dekor" looks fun until customers cannot find you.
- Skipping the spoken test. Say it on the phone. If people ask you to repeat it, keep looking.
How to choose between finalists
- The room test. Picture a room styled only with your products. Does the name describe it?
- The price test. Say the name next to your average price. "Maison Ormond" at $12 feels off.
- The tag test. Write it at hang-tag size. Is it still readable?
- The friend test. Say it out loud to three people and ask them to spell it.
Found a name you love? Here's what I'd do next
- Turn the name into a brand. Home decor brands show up on hang tags, tissue, shopping bags and Pinterest pins, so test your logo in all four places. If you want it done for you, my Dream Boutique Branding Package builds the logo, colors and fonts around the name you picked.
- Secure the domain. Search the .com the same day you pick your finalist. You can check and register it through Grow Your Boutique Domains, then grab the matching social handles.
- Handle the business setup. Register the name the way your state requires and form your business entity. Some owners use LegalZoom for filing paperwork. It is a filing service, not personal legal advice, so talk to an attorney about trademark questions.
- Build the store. When the name, domain and paperwork are settled, open your home decor shop on Shopify.
- Plan your inventory. Start with my wholesale home decor guide so your first order matches your budget.
